Embryologist Semra Sertyel
Semra Sertyel graduated from Middle East University, Department of Biology and became a part of the In Vitro Fertilisation Unit of Ankara Sevgi Hospital. In 2000, she played a role in the establishment of Istanbul Memorial Hospital IVF and Genetics Centre and was the head of the IVF Laboratories until 2007. Later, she helped establish HRS Gynaecology and Obstetrics Hospital IVF Laboratories and served as a laboratory supervisor until the end of 2009. Between 2009 and 2014, she worked as a laboratory supervisor of Taksim German Hospital IVF Laboratories.
Taking part in a lot of publications and presentations, Sertyel, together with her team, broke many new grounds in Turkey for such practices as endometrial co-culture, intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection, vitrification method, embryo freezing and thawing. Sertyel has been involved in many national and international studies on male infertility, preimplantation genetic diagnostics, embryo culture systems and quality control standardization of in vitro fertilisation laboratories. She is currently employed at Ankara Centrum IVF Centre.
